Nazareth Chapel

With red Numidian marble walls from Africa and solid marble columns from Italy, Nazareth Chapel is a historic, architectural gem. When it opened in 1923, it was originally part of a Roman Catholic preparatory seminary known as Nazareth Hall. The stained glass windows, created by the Charles J. Connick Stained Glass Company, portray 18 scenes from the Bible. After the seminary closed in 1970, the University of Northwestern – St. Paul purchased the campus with a promise and commitment to preserve the beauty of the property.

The chapel’s elegant combination of auburn, white and green marble is perfect for any wedding style. Spectacular stained glass windows, a high arched gold ceiling, rich wooden pews and superior acoustics complement this classic setting.

A magnificent setting for your wedding day, the chapel has a maximum seating capacity of 300 guests. There are 20 wooden pews on each side of the chapel’s center aisle and a pew on each side of the doorway. The flooring in the front of the chapel is a stunning hunter green marble with room for the grand piano, reader’s podium and stairs to the altar table. The chapel balcony houses the organ and is an ideal location for your photographer and videographer. Please keep in mind that because the chapel is a historic building, it is not air-conditioned.

Your dream wedding will be complete as you and your guests enjoy delicious food prepared by Bon Appétit and served in our elegant Nazareth Great Room. Step out onto the outdoor veranda or take a romantic walk across the bridge to the private island chapel. Your photographer can capture your wedding memories in this stunning venue with a view toward the picturesque waterfront. With help from our attentive, experienced staff, University of Northwestern – St. Paul is truly a place for your forever to begin.
