Nazareth Chapel Amenities and Resources
Nazareth Chapel is a magnificent setting for your special day. The chapel has a maximum seating capacity of 300 guests. There are 20 wooden pews on each side of the chapel's center aisle and a pew on each side of the doorway. The flooring in the front of the chapel is a stunning hunter green marble with room for the grand piano, reader's podium and stairs to the altar table. The chapel balcony houses the organ and is an ideal location for your photographer, videographer and additional instruments. Please keep in mind that since the chapel is a historic building, it is not air-conditioned.
A University of Northwestern - St. Paul Wedding Assistant is present at the rehearsal and on your wedding day to set up the University's furnishings, assist the wedding party and help make your day run smoothly. Someone from your party will need to coordinate your events of the day. The pastor, or someone from the wedding party, is responsible for conducting the rehearsal.
A University of Northwestern - St. Paul Sound Engineer is present on the wedding day 1.5 hours prior to the ceremony start time. The engineer will set up all required sound equipment, monitor levels during the wedding and make a complimentary audio recording of the ceremony. Our sound system includes a CD player and flash-drive capabilities.
You may request that a sound engineer be present at your rehearsal, for an additional fee of $80. A request to have an engineer at the rehearsal needs to be made at least one month in advance and is contingent upon availability of an engineer.
A four-foot tall, wooden podium is provided for musicians and readers. A wooden podium and/or sofa table is available for your guest book, along with two flower pedestals for other decorations.
You may select from two styles of kneeling benches for the bride and groom: side-by-side or face-to-face.
The University of Northwestern - St. Paul provides candles for your wedding at no additional charge. The only candles not provided by University of Northwestern - St. Paul are the unity candles and side taper candles. If you choose to provide your own candles, other than the unity candles, there will be a minimum damage/clean-up charge of $50.
Each candle has an aluminum outer shell that holds a candle insert. These drip-less candles will burn for at least four hours under normal conditions. Our candles will always look beautiful in your pictures and during your ceremony because they remain at the same height.
University of Northwestern - St. Paul provides:
Organ and Piano
*An Allen Classic electric organ and a Steinway grand piano are available for use by your wedding musicians. The organ is located in the balcony and the piano is at the front of the chapel.
*A list of wedding musicians can be provided by the wedding coordinator upon request.
Painting "The Rock," located along the campus road, is a Northwestern wedding tradition. The Rock may be painted as part of your wedding festivities. The University of Northwestern - St. Paul takes no responsibility for painting The Rock. It is painted frequently on a first-come, first-served basis by wedding parties, students and others, and we are unable to guarantee your painting will last.
